If you've ever tried to buy a plain hoodie or tee in a 7XL in Australia, you already know how this goes. You search. You scroll. You find a "plus size" range that proudly stops at 3XL. You close the tab and wear the same hoodie you've had since 2017.

Why plain plus size basics are so hard to find
Most Aussie retailers treat anything past a 3XL like a rounding error. The few that go further usually do it with a handful of styles, in two colours, cut by grading up a size medium and hoping for the best.
That's how you end up with a tee that's wide enough but rides up at the front, or a hoodie with sleeves like sausage casings. Bigger bodies aren't just scaled-up small ones. The shoulders, chest, arms and length all need their own room.
And plain basics are the worst for it. There's plenty of loud stuff out there if you dig, but a simple, no-print tee or hoodie in 8XL, 10XL or 13XL? Good luck.
What to look for in a plus size plain tee or hoodie
A real size chart with real measurements. Not "fits generous". You want chest width and length in centimetres so you can measure your favourite tee and compare.
Room where it counts. Shoulders, upper arms and hem. If a tee only gets wider and never longer, it'll ride up the second you lift your arms.
Fabric that holds up. Thin fabric clings and goes see-through under stretch. Look for a heavyweight cotton that keeps its shape after washing.
A size range that doesn't tap out early. If a brand's biggest size is your exact size, you've got no room to size up for an oversized fit. A range that keeps going means you get to choose how you wear it.
Plain vs blank: same thing, different buyers
You'll see both words. "Plain" is what most of us type when we want a no-print tee to wear. "Blank" is what crafters and small printers call garments they're going to decorate themselves.
Either way, it's the same thing: a tee or hoodie with nothing on it. If you're after blank plus size tees for your own vinyl, embroidery or DTF designs, big sizes are even harder to source, so this applies to you too.
